After multiple international travels for work, Mike would return home laden with silk saris that his wife wanted to display in their home wherever possible. The saris were incorporated into the overall design by transforming the rich, silk material into bedding, table drapes, pillows for the couch, and so on. The sari’s jewel tones were enhanced with complementary artwork and art glass. In keeping with the travel influences, rugs from Turkey were added throughout the home. As the rooms were quite small, furniture was designed to be movable, creating seating just for two, or for more when they entertained.
In the bedroom, his passion for the west was incorporated with two photographs taken by a Texas artist they knew. More of the sari material was incorporated as bands into the drapes. The completed room was cozy and artsy, weaving beloved southwestern influences into the couple’s worldly adventures in a seamless creation.
